One a week. Making one healthy change each week. Mamavation Monday.


First week is almost behind me! So, these Mamavation ladies? Awesome. So much love and support in this community.

After last week's post, I came up with an idea of how to tackle this. After Cora's death, I couldn't drive for a month, couldn't mentally handle it. I still feel like that a lot, overwhelmed. Decisions, routines, and responsibilities can be so tough sometimes. I've let me health go as well. But, I want to live a healthy lifestyle. I've decided to add one health change each week, and keep the change from the previous change.This change can be super tiny, or a big step. You know how I love buttons and badges and flair, introducing my Mamavation plan, "One a Week." One healthy change each week.


Last week, I started with a simple goal, to drink more water. I did drink more, not my goal, but more, so this week was a success! Got a great tip/reminder from Kia, drink a glass of water as soon as I wake up. Just started that today.

Feeling pretty overwhelmed with still working on my messy office, starting work, and prepareing for BlogHer, so my healthy change this week is small, take a multi-vitamin each day. For me, this is going to be a prenatal vitamin that includes folic acid. No, not trying to get pregnant. I think every women of child bearing age should take prenatal vitamins (unless their doc says no).

So here's where we're at.
Week 1- drink more water (did okay)
Week 2- drink more water and take a prenatal vitamin every day.

  2. Way to set your goals. It's so important to set goals that are attainable and you're doing exactly that. Every week that passes you'll get a little bit stronger and more confident. You'll still have bad days but you'll be able to handle them. Trust me on that. You're doing wonderfully.

    BTW, I love flare too! If I ever figure out how to work my blog, I'm going to pimp it out big time :)

  3. Way to go! I think small changes lead to much more sustainable long term success. I've always struggled with remembering to take my vitamin, but now I keep my vitamins,(along with bc & ppd meds) in my purse & I have a daily alarm on my phone reminding me to take them at the same time every day. I always have a bottle of water with me, & I haven't missed a pill since I've started setting my alarm. Thought you might want a tip for remembering your vitamin! :)

  5. Good job! That's how I started things. I took a couple goals and set for myself and then kept them and, added a couple more. Worked well! Hope you have a geat week this week!

  7. Love your goal of one small change each week!! I too need to remember to take my prenatal vit. each day... who would think that that small thing would be so difficult to remember to take?

  8. One small change a week? Brilliant! I leave my vitamins out in plain sight, or else I forget too. And there are days when I forget, still!! But good for you! Sounds like your doing great!

  12. Baby steps is key. If you try to jump in with too much you will feel overwhelmed and give up. With small steps it makes it easier to reach these goals!

  13. Cool, mama! I think this is a good way to make sure you go slowly and make the goals attainable. I know how it is to feel like everything is too much. I kinda feel that way right now!! High anxiety. Hope you have a great time at BlogHer!!! So excited for you!

  16. Baby steps Kristine, baby steps. You are amazing by how well you are doing so shortly after Cora's passing. I have been following your journey since December and can't believe you are able to focus on yourself again like you are. Keep it up through your grieving, it makes you all the more effective as you work on Cora's behalf. xoxo

  19. small steps are definitely a great way to go, especially through stressful/tramatic times! I do the whole glass of water as soon as I get up...then drink another whole glass with my vitamin.

  22. Kristine - You are amazing! One small step each day to better health. Something I have found with my journey so far is that the better feel physically the more clear and able to deal with life mentally. One small step everyday can add up to major lifestyle changes.

    Glad you feel less stressed with the clutter gone. Sorry to hear you don't feel ready for BlogHer but you need to do things on your own time.
